Songwriter Lee Thomas Miller, a candidate for the Republican nomination for Congress in the 7th Congressional District, issued a a statement on Saturday praising the Senate’s passage of President Trump’s tax cut bill early Saturday morning by a 51 to 49 margin.
“While there are still details the House and Senate have to negotiate to reconcile their two versions of the tax cut plan, this is a huge step towards the most comprehensive reform of the U.S. Tax Code since Ronald Reagan was President. These tax cuts will spur economic growth that will put America back to work, help lift the wages we earn, and keep more of what we earn in our pockets!” Miller said.
“There is still work to be done as we continue to cut taxes, make the tax system easier to navigate and reduce the power of the IRS. I look forward to being part of that process in the next Congress. In the meantime, President Donald J. Trump, Vice President Mike Pence (who cast the deciding vote) and Republicans in the House and Senate deserve the thanks and gratitude of the entire nation for getting us within reach of an historic accomplishment that will benefit all of us,” Miller concluded.
Miller faces State Sen. Mark Green (R-Clarksville) in the August 2018 Republican primary. The winner of that primary election will be a heavy favorite to win the November 2018 general election to replace Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN-07) in the U.S. House of Representatives.
Blackburn is running for the U.S. Senate seat currently held by Sen. Bob Corker, who has said he will not run for re-election in 2018.
Songwriter Lee Thomas Miller apparently has hired a professional media flack to issue well thought out press releases as he frantically strives to assert equivalence between himself and Senator Mark Green. It’s simply absurd! Mr. Miller has not served in elected office and apparently thinks U. S. Representative is a great entry level position from which to launch his political career. On the other hand, at a time when we desperately need to elect more conservatives to the House of Representatives we have Mark Green who has been a conservative leader in the State Senate for five years. The Freedom Caucus and the Club For Growth have endorsed Mark and are urging conservatives in the Seventh District to send him to the House. Lets not disappoint them!
